The public hearing advocating the merits of PA Senate Bill 1199 occurred today in Harrisburg from 10 am. until 12:30 p.m. Hats off to Julia Wagner for her tireless efforts in creating the momentum needed to make this hearing a reality. Today was an amazing experience for my family to be at this Senate hearing. My prayers are that this Senate Bill 1199 bill gets passed. Too many people are suffering needlessly, people and the medical community need to become INFORMED and EDUCATED PROPERLY. Insurance companies are willing to pay for MS drugs at $3K/month for life for misdiagnosed patients but are fighting paying for Lyme antibiotics for a few months or a few years at a fraction of the cost of MS treatments. Why?...clearly there is a cost savings to them to pay for Lyme instead of misdiagnosed people!
ReplyDeleteIt's an excellent question and one that will finally have a chance of really being heard because I think that we got the Senators' attention for sure!!! Wow... you are so right about that... it's so confusing and trying to apply rational thought to the whole thing only makes my symptoms flare LOL! Glad you were there Lisa. Have you seen any write ups on the hearing in the paper or online? If you do will you post them here?

Quick Update for ALL: We received a call from Senator Greenleaf on Wednesday - he is thoroughly committed to pushing this forward. We are working on some key data for him, and we expect next steps next week. If you have not already done so, this is the time to network with as many patients as you can to get them onto this site, and signing the petition, AND, contacting their senators. It is crucial that Senators hear from as many as possible. And that letters be written that go to their Senators AND to Senator Donald White, Chair of the Committee. He had the most appropriate response - "outrage" - anyone distanced from this would have this most natural of human responses. Thank Senator White and Senator Greenleaf, and keep the momentum going.
